Murugan's death: Panel begins probe

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The inquiry committee headed by the director of health services Dr R L Saritha begins the probe into the circumstances that led to the death of Murugan, a migrant labourer from Tamil Nadu . Murugan, who met with an accident in Kollam on Sunday evening was allegedly denied treatment in five hospitals and later died after seven hours in the ambulance. The expert committee will probe whether Murugan was examined by the hospitals concerned, whether adequate steps were taken to save the patient and whether the hospitals and doctors were negligent in managing the case. "We have visited all the hospitals and have taken the versions of the doctors and the authorities. The committee was constituted following the preliminary report that denial of treatment has occurred from various hospitals in Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam district.Meanwhile, sources hinted that the police report on the incident had found fault with Thiruvananthapuram medical college and four other hospitals..
