Trichy | Tuesday | 10th July, 2018

Summary:

Trichy: Railway unions have slammed the reported manning of railway gates by gatemen travelling on trains saying that it was a clear violation of safety rules and a crude system to be employed in the age of modernisation. If the travelling gatekeepers take 3 minutes to man each level crossing, altogether they need 1.45 hours. After closing the gate, he or she should communicate the PN to the station master for having closed it. The DEMU will thus need 4.25 hours to reach its destination,” said a loco driver who did not want to be identified. On their part, the gatemen should immediately acknowledge the same and give a PN for having understood the movement of the train..
