BDU holds orientation programme for freshers

Trichy: The newly-admitted students of Bharathidasan University underwent a day-long orientation session on the university premises on Sunday after many years. Speaking at the programme, the head of bioinformatics department, S Parthasarathy, explained the university information system to the students. The student’s self-support service was a key feature on the university website which could help them know almost everything online about the university. He said that research projects worthRs 41 crore were being undertaken in the university at present. Listing out various programmes pointing to the research potential of the university, Manisankar said the university had so far produced six vice-chancellors and several internationally-acclaimed researchers.Listing out the university’s achievements, he said it had collaborated with 18 overseas universities and was getting ready for the third cycle of NAAC accreditation..
