Burglars decamp with gold, cash, mobiles in city

Trichy: Two incidents of break-ins were reported from Thiruverumbur and the city on Monday.In the first incident, the house of a farmer Ravi, 45, in Bharath Nagar in Thiruverumbur was burgled and 20 sovereigns of gold jewellery and Rs 10,000 cash was allegedly stolen. Police visited the house and took the finger print samples. Neighbours told police that there was a car parked near the house in a suspicious manner in the early hours of Monday.In the second incident, burglars broke into a mobile phone outlet near Good shed bridge in Trichy. The incident came to light when the shop owner came to open the shop on Monday morning.The Cantonment police took up the investigation based on a complaint that 15 cell phones and laptops were stolen from the shop..
