Guv ignores ‘chosen spot’ for cleaning

Trichy: Governor Banwarilal Purohit Purohit, who made a visit to Pudukottai on Friday morning, surprised the municipality officials when he ignored a relatively cleaner spot earmarked for him to sweep as part of the Swachh Bharat programme.A stage was erected inside the new bus stand for the function and a place earmarked for him by municipal officials on the right to sweep. He said that Trichy has been a symbol of culture and heritage of the state.Governor, who is also the vice-president of the Kendra, recollected the 80-year history of BVB in the country and its contribution to the preservation of culture and promotion of education.He asked the BVB which runs 87 schools countrywide to start a school in the city. However, as soon as he got off the stage after the inaugural session, equipped with a broom he started walking out of the bus stand ignoring officials.He crossed the main road and entered an isolated lane only to find empty liquor bottles scattered there.A visibly irked governor chose to return to the stage as municipal workers started clearing the bottles from the street.Later in the afternoon, he interacted with the visitors in circuit house and received petition from people till 4 pm.The governor attended the 7th anniversary of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Trichy Kendra on Friday evening..
