Madurai’s NCC naval unit wins trophy in Nau Sainik Camp after 22 years

Madurai: The 2 (TN) naval unit of NCC (National Cadet Corps), Madurai won the overall best naval NCC unit trophy at the annual inter-unit competition – Nau Sainik Camp (IUC - NSC), 2018 held from August 8 to 19. The trophy won by the unit comes after a historic gap of 22 years.The unit also won the ‘Best in Firing’ and ‘Best in Drill and Smartness’ trophies. It also bagged the second position in service subjects, semaphore, health and hygiene among others.The annual inter-unit competition – Nau Sainik Camp 2018 for all naval NCC units of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Andaman was conducted from August 8 to 19 at the Puducherry NCC group headquarters. A total of 294 senior division NCC cadets (boys and girls) participated in the camp.A total of seven NCC units from Chennai, Cuddalore, Puducherry, Tuticorin, Madurai and Andaman participated in the competitions. The camp was designed to encourage a healthy competitive spirit amongst the cadets while also promoting esprit de corps and national integration.Lieutenant Commander VP Senthil, Commanding Officer of 2 (TN) Naval Unit NCC Madurai led the team of 20 senior division boy cadets and 12 senior wing girl NCC cadets along with Sub Lieutenant Dr Binu Ramesh, associate NCC Officer from Thiagarajar College, Madurai..
