Trichy: An 18-year-old student, who consumed poison reportedly after being beaten up by his teacher recently for not attending classes died on Sunday night after failing to respond to treatment. The victim, identified as as Dakshinamoorthy hailed from Athanaukurichi village in Ariyalur district.Police said that Dakshinamoorthy was a student of a private polytechnic college in Cuddalore district. Based on a complaint lodged by victim’s mother, K Rani, the Thalavai police registered a case and are investigating. He had come home to attend a wedding of a relative and had taken leave on September 6.
