Doctor, 9 others booked for murder bid on industrialist

Trichy: Police have booked ten people, including a doctor, on charges of attempting to murder an industrialist running educational institutions in Thanjavur. While Elangovan was in the backyard of his two-wheeler showroom near the medical college hospital, an unidentified gang of four people approached him and started attacking him with deadly weapons, police said. His wife, E Radhikarani, is working as a gynaecologist in a government hospital in the city. Three of them had been detained and interrogated while search was on to nab the doctor and others who have been booked under sections 120 b, 506 (2) and 307 of IPC, police said.According to police, Elangovan, 65, a native of third street at Arulanantha Nagar in Thanjavur, has been running educational institutions. Subsequently, he was rushed to the medical college hospital for treatment.In his complaint lodged with the medical college police station, E Abinesh, son of Elangovan, named Bharathimohan, a physician, and nine others including Anandasekar, Anusiya, Jayashree, Akilashree and Kalaiselvi as those behind the attack.Based on the complaint, police registered a case and a special team headed by the deputy superintendent of police for Thanjavur town, Jayachandran, was formed to nab the accused.Meanwhile, with the help of CCTV footage, the special team secured Murugan of Korikulam Puthu street, Gowtham from Keelaiyur in Thirumangalakottai and Karthik of Soorakottai in Thanjavur district, and further investigations were on, police said..
