Trichy: A godown used for storing auto-rickshaw accessories was completely destroyed in an accidental fire in Trichy on Thursday morning. Though the fire fighters put out the fire after battling for about one hour and fifteen minutes, the godown was completely destroyed.Fire service personnel said that the godown had not been functioning for some time. Seeing unexpected fire, the local people alerted fire service personnel who reached the spot around 9.50am. Cantonment police have started an investigation in this regard.According to the fire service personnel, the incident happened at 9.40 am at the godown belonging to Jayakumar at Sakthi Nagar in Karumandapam. Nobody was hurt in the accident.Though the exact reason for the accident couldn’t be ascertained by the Trichy fire and rescue services personnel, they said that it could have been triggered by electric short circuit..
