Trichy: A family counselling centre (FCC) was opened at all woman police station Srirangam in Trichy to ensure an effective and speedy redressal for the family disputes among the couples in Trichy here on Tuesday.The objective of the family counselling centre is to work on reconciliation between the couple to convince them of leading the life instead of breaking up. The centre will work in coordination with the police to sort out family disputes caused by dowry harassment, domestic violence etc. It suggested that the centre can be set up on collector’s office campus, local government building, AWPS or at one stop centre (OSC). The centre was earlier run on the premises of the NGO.The ministry found it essential to keep FCC at a fixed location in order to facilitate the people to easily access the centre. Already run by an NGO – SOC SEAD recognised by the government, FCC got the new location following the advice from the union ministry of women and child development..
