The magistrate ordered the sessions’ court police station to take all the nine into custody for interrogation and arrest them.Sub-inspector of police of sessions court, Uma Shankari, said that the people who appeared for deposition mentioned their original name instead of that in the FIR thereby landing in trouble. As the person mentioned his name, it mismatched with that in the first information report (FIR) filed by the police. All of them were remanded in judicial custody in the night. The police conducted preliminary inquiries with the nine people and registered a case under section 419 (punishment for impersonation) and 466 (forgery of record of court) of IPC.SI Uma Shankari said that they were yet to unravel the reason for the impersonation attempt though the accused would have attracted only penalty in the case in which they were booked by PEW. However, the man developed cold feet and it was proved that he was not the one named in the FIR and had impersonated the accused.Suspecting that the others waiting for deposition could also be impersonators, the court asked the staff to verify the documents of the eight others. The inquiry brought to light that all of them had turned up to impersonate the accused and submitted forged documents for their identity..
