7-ft-long python caught from city tank, released into forest

Trichy: A seven-feet-long python was rescued by the forest department from a city tank and released into the reserve forest on Monday. The python came to the notice of a group of youngsters when it was caught in their net while fishing in the Olaiyur tank here.They forest department team came to rescue the python and later released into the reserve forest area near Manapparai.Forest department personnel are still puzzled how the python had come reached the tank as there is no forest close to the tank.“As the mercury level is slowly rising, the python may have come to the water in search of pray,” said a forest official from Trichy.A couple of months back, a python of the same size was rescued from Manachanallur and was let into MR Palayam reserve forest area, he said..
