DRI seizes 1kg gold from 4 passengers at Trichy Airport

TRICHY: The sleuths from Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) Chennai, have seized 1.1kg of gold biscuits valued at Rs 35.20 lakh from four air passengers including three women at Trichy international airport late night on Monday. It came to light that they have concealed the yellow metals with their luggage.DRI officials seized the valuables and further enquiries are on. "Based on a tip-off they arrived at the airport and carried out the process to nab the smugglers. During the process, the officials had grown suspicious over the activities of a few passengers who arrived at the airport from Kuala Lumpur by Air Asia flight at around 11.40 pm on Monday," sources from DRI said.DRI has fixed four passengers including three women, identified as Kuthpudeen, Deepa, Mahalakshmi and Tamizhkodi from Sivagangai district ..
