Customs seizes gold worth Rs 7L from 2 women passengers

She had arrived here from Kuala Lumpur by an Air Asia flight in the early hours of Thursday. Trichy: Customs officials have seized 200g of gold jewellery valued over Rs 6.75 lakh from two women passengers who arrived at the Trichy airport from Singapore and Kuala Lumpur respectively.According to officials, they were engaged in their routine check-in process, when they noticed a woman passenger going in a suspicious manner. The woman, a native of Thanjavur had arrived from Singapore by a Scoot Tiger Air flight in the late hours of February 20.Meanwhile, customs officials also seized two unfinished gold chains, both of 24 karat purity weighing 100g valued over Rs 3.35 lakh from Kavitha, 30, a resident of Nagapattinam district..
