One dead, two injured as auto overturns while avoiding dog

The traffic north investigation wing police said that the Muthuveeran sustained a severe injury on his head as the auto-rickshaw turned turtle. Trichy: A 60-year-old man was killed and two others were injured after an auto-rickshaw in which they were travelling overturned near Gandhi market in Trichy on Thursday morning.The deceased was identified as Muthuveeran, from Sirugudi near Mannachanallur. His wife Janaki and the auto-rickshaw driver sustained mild injuries. He lost control over the vehicle and the vehicle turned turtle causing injury to Muthuveeran while two others escaped with minor injuries.The body was recovered and sent to Mahatma Gandhi memorial government hospital (MGMGH) in Trichy for post-mortem. He died on the spot in the accident that occurred around 4 am.Investigations revealed that Muthuveeran and Janaki had just returned to the city on Thursday from Chennai by bus and hired an auto-rickshaw near head post office to their residence.The accident happened near Gandhi market when the driver applied sudden brake to avoid hitting a dog which was crossing the road..
