Summary:

In a first-of-its-kind attempt, St Joseph's College (SJC) in Trichy has measured the 'Carbon Sequestration' potential of age-old trees on its campus. He said that during evaluation of trees adapting to the elevated carbon dioxide they found that there was high variation in carbon sequestration pattern within various tree species. TRICHY: Ever wondered how much carbon the trees on your premises have absorbed and stored in them? "Carbon sequestration has been gaining pace in recent times. "We started feeling global warming after the level crossed 325 ppm," he said.Asked about species that sequestrate more carbon in the atmosphere, he said that all tropical trees sequestered more carbon..
