VADODARA: A four-foot-long monitor lizard was rescued from the golf garden of the Gujarat State Fertilizers and Chemicals (GSFC) campus on Monday morning by a group of wildlife volunteers. All these baby lizards were rescued from the spot,” he said.“It seems there might be some breeding activity taking place in the vicinity and the monitor lizard rescued on Monday was fully grown and very healthy,” he said. “Monitor lizards are not venomous but they can remove a good part of a person’s flesh with their strong bites,” he said, adding that after rescuing the lizard, it was handed over to the forest department. According to Arvind Pawar, president of Wildlife Rescue Trust, he had received a call regarding the presence of the monitor lizard from the company after which a volunteer rescued the fully grown lizard.“Last month, a couple of female employees who were sitting in the garden had spotted baby monitor lizards after which we were called to rescue them,” said Pawar.“When our volunteers reached the garden, they had noticed presence of 13 such baby monitor lizards which were one to one-and-a-half-foot-long..
