More gastroenteritis cholera cases surface

With the fresh cases, the total number of gastroenteritis cases in Navapura area has gone up to 95.At the same time, three female residents of Nagarwada area of the city have tested positive of cholera. Vadodara: The situation of water-borne diseases in the city continued to remain grim with eight more cases of gastroenteritis reported in Navapura area on Wednesday.The situation remains the same despite Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) stopping water supply to the affected areas and pressing in tankers. A 25-year-old female resident of Prakashnagar, another 51-year-old female from the same area and 28-year-old female resident of Navidharti – were amongst the three patients who tested positive of cholera from Nagarwada area on Wednesday. The samples of this patients were collected on Monday and Tuesday.Earlier, reports of two patients who were admitted at state-run SSG Hospital on July 6 were found to be positive of cholera. While one patient belonged to Siyabaug area, another patient belonged to Navapura.Three of the eight cases that were reported on Wednesday were admitted as indoor patients at Jamnabai Hospital.After the new indoor patients, the total number of hospitalised patients on Wednesday stood at eight..
