VMC to double charges for impounded stray cattle

Vadodara: The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) has proposed to double the charges it collects from cattle owners who let their cattle astray on the roads in the city. The civic body impounds such cattle and keeps them in its cattle ponds.VMC officials said that the civic body currently charged Rs 5,000 as administrative charges from cattle owners for large animals including bovines. For small animals and calves, it charges Rs 500. The VMC administration has proposed that when a stray animal is caught for the first time the current charges should be applicable, but it has proposed to double the amount if the same animal is caught again.The VMC administration has proposed that Rs 10,000 should be charged as administrative charges for large animals and Rs 1,000 should be charged for small animals including calves..
