VADODARA: The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) vaccinated 14,173 school children on the first day of the measles-rubella (MR) vaccination drive in the city.The drive was conducted simultaneously in 78 schools in the city.The municipal corporation is to vaccinate around 4.25lakh children in the city during the drive that is to be conducted over a month. The drive will be conducted across 650 schools in the city, fixed sessions at government hospitals and municipal corporation’s health centres as well as outreach programmes.Sources said that a target of vaccinating 23,955 children was set by the municipal corporation on the first day, but only 14,173 could be vaccinated.The lukewarm response is said to be due to the fact that there was high degree of absenteeism in the schools due to rains in the city..
