Police lob teargas shells in operation to free cattle

VADODARA: Godhra police had to lob teargas shells in an operation to rescue cattle from the Satpul Odha area of the city. The mob started following the cops and teargas shells were lobbed to disperse the crowd.Panchmahal superintendent of police Leena Patil said seven to eight teargas shells were lobbed to disperse the mob which had started chasing the policemen. While police face mobs like the incident on Monday in the recent past, in August 2017 police had to lob teargas shells when mobs pelted stones during a similar operation. An offence for the incident was being registered at B Division police station in Godhra town.According to sources, cattle has been rescued from the Satpul area on a couple of occasions in the recent past. “The situation is now peaceful in the area,” she said.Sources said that 15 bovines, cows, oxen and calves, were rescued by police..
