Vadodara: A case of sexual harassment has rocked M S University campus.A girl student, studying in first year of Bachelors of Arts at MSU’s Faculty of Arts had submitted a complaint of being sexually harassed by a teacher on Tuesday. Based on the complaint, the faculty has sacked Dr Mohammed Zubair, who was a visiting teacher at the Department of Persian, Arabic and Urdu, hired for teaching Urdu.According to faculty officials, they had received the complaint from the girl student after the mid-semester exams of the first year BA students got over on Tuesday. She submitted a complaint to him.While the dean immediately constituted the committee, it started its inquiry at around 4.30 pm and recorded statements of the girl and the teacher. By 5.45 pm, the faculty decided to cancel Zubair’s appointment as visiting faculty and he was asked to handover keys of the department along with all the relevant papers which were in his possession.“Since the committee had come to the conclusion that the act of the visiting faculty amounted to sexual harassment, we immediately took the decision to remove him,” said Krishnan.The young teacher was teaching Urdu for the past three months..
