Four booked for selling Chinese lanterns threads

VADODARA: Vadodara city and rural police have booked four persons since Thursday for selling banned Chinese lanterns and threads On January 11, the detection of crime branch sleuths arrested a person identified as Pappan Khemani for secretly selling Chinese lanterns at Sant Kanwar Colony in Warasia. On Sunday too, police seized 233 Chinese lanterns. Similarly, Jayanti Bhoi from Karjan was also nabbed for selling same type of thread on Saturday evening. Police said that Khemani had hid lanterns in a separate box away from his shop and used to get it only when somebody would ask for it.In another incident, Rishi Valiya, a kite trader from Warasia, was held for selling Chinese lanterns by surveillance staff of Warasia police station.Police found 80 lanterns from Valiya following which a case was registered against him. Chandulal Vaghela, a resident of Waghodiya Road, and Diwaas Patel, who lives in Tarsali , were nabbed for selling these lanterns.Savli police seized nine spindles of Chinese threads from Shailesh Bhoi on Saturday.Police said that the thread was of industrial use, but Bhoi was selling from his kite stall in Savli town..
