52 candidates clear MSUrsquos PhD Entrance Test

Vadodara: M S University has registered 52 % results in the PhD Entrance Test (PET) which was conducted in January this year.PET is the qualifying test which is held for admission to PhD across various departments of the university. With 461 out of 892 candidates who had appeared for their examination, clearing the test, the total pass percent comes to 51.6%. A total of 1,011 candidates were registered to appear for PET.Compared to 2017, the results this year are marginally less as before two years, the pass percent was 54.9%.“Like in the past, candidates of life sciences have scored better results,” said professor C N Murthy adding that the candidates can also check the results online as the results have been uploaded on the university website.The two hours long PET was held based on the pattern recommended by the University Grants Commission (UGC) in which paper I was for testing the general aptitude, analytical skills and research methodology of the candidates while paper II was for testing the subject proficiency of the candidates.Exam was conducted in 45 subjects including life sciences, chemistry, commerce, maths, physics and engineering streams among others while each paper comprised of 50 questions which were compulsory with no negative marking.MSU is also exploring means to conduct PET online from the next examination onwards..
