New FGI officebearers get elected uncontested

VADODARA: The Federation of Gujarat Industries (FGI), one of the oldest industrial bodies of the state founded in 1918, got a new team of office-bearers whowere elected uncontested on Friday. Mankad, who was eventually elected, is serving as the FGI president till date. Manohar Chawla is the new FGI president, while Paresh Saraiya is the senior vice-president and Abhishek Gangwal is the vice-president. On the last day of filing nomination for the four posts, only one nomination each was filed for each post, resulting in all four candidates getting elected uncontested. Even then three other posts, including that of the senior vice-president, vice-president and honorary treasurer, had gone uncontested..
