VMC braces to pay SSNNL water bills

VMC commissioner has now been authorized to clear SSNNL bills.With VMC beginning to draw water from the Rampura canal, the civic body is bracing to make payments to the SSNNL. Vadodara: The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) is bracing to pay hefty sums for water provided by the Sardar Sarovar Naramda Nigam Ltd (SSNNL) to fill the Ajwa reservoir. The SSNNL provides water to the civic body at a rate of Rs 3.14 per kilolitre (kl).The civic body had paid a deposit of Rs 1.38crore to SSNNL which supplied 67.51 lakh kl over the two months. The civic body was provided Narmada water last summer and, again, since last week.VMC can get water from an escape in the Rampura branch canal of the Narmada project. After deducting the deposit, VMC has to pay Rs 73.83lakh to SSNNL.The standing committee gave a nod to the administration to settle the bill by paying the remaining amount..
