Attacked UPJN engineer shifted to AIIMS for treatment

The hostel inmates were annoyed due to road cutting for laying pipeline for water supply project. UPJN senior officials decided to shift him to AIIMS in New Delhi on the advise of treating doctors. After the decision, local administration was asked to facilitate an easy passage to the airport. VARANASI: UP Jal Nigam (UPJN) junior engineer S K Gupta, who had suffered grave injuries in attack by youths in Lanka area on Tuesday late night, was shifted from BHU Trauma Centre to AIIMS in New Delhi by air-ambulance on Thursday.The district administration and police arranged a green corridor between BHU and LBS International Airport for the ambulance carrying Gupta and a team of doctors.District magistrate Yogeshwar Ram Mishra said, "The state government directed UPJN to arrange best possible treatment for Gupta. "Acting on the directive of DM and SSP R K Bhardwaj, SP (traffic) S C Rawat created a green corridor around 2.30 pm and Gupta was taken to airport in an ambulance.Gupta and two contractors of UPJN had suffered serious injuries when a group of inmates of a private hostel attacked them near Lanka crossing after midnight on Tuesday..
