UP: Police await ordinance copy to file FIRs in triple talaq cases

VARANASI: The police have failed to file FIRs in cases of triple talaq as they are yet to get the copy of the recent ordinance on instant talaq . SO Sidhari Ramayan Singh told TOI over phone that the FIR would be lodged once the ordinance copy is procured.The Central government in September brought an ordinance making triple talaq or instant divorce a punishable offence that will invite a jail term. They beat her and kicked out of the house, she alleged adding that she went to her parents home. Two such cases have came to light in Varanasi and Azamgarh districts, where police were waiting for a copy of the ordinance to lodge FIR.A 22-year-old woman was allegedly ousted from the house by her in-laws in the city.
