The rally was organised to mark the 85th birth anniversary of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) founder late Kanshi Ram Chandrashekhar had made an announcement to contest from Varanasi two days after Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi had met him at a Meerut hospital on March 13 ahead of her Varanasi visit.Except for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which had announced that Modi will contest LS poll again from Varanasi, no other party has declared the name of their candidate..
