GUNTUR: On orders from Guntur Municipal Corporation (GMC) commissioner Shrikesh B Lathkar , engineers of the civic body spent their Sunday on streets to attend the emergency road restoration work.Officials in the engineering wing right were seen running helter-skelter to expedite the temporary road restoration work to provide relief to the people.Making a surprising waking up call, commissioner summoned all the engineers to his chamber at 6am on Sunday. He literally gave a dressing down to the engineers for not launching the road restoration work in RTC colony, Taraka Rama Nagar, Sampath Nagar and Srinivasa Rao thota areas.He constituted 14 special teams to monitor the road repair works and asked them to swing into action without any delay. He made it clear that he would not hesitate to axe the officials if found negligent during his surprise inspection.Commissioner’s warning did the trick as the officials were seen on the roads monitoring the progress of the works throughout the day..
