Srisailam dam almost full, Nagarjuna Sagar on the way

Vijayawada: Srisailam dam is receiving highest inflows of the season as massive flow of water from upstream areas is filling up the reservoir. We will maintain the water level at 883 ft in Srisailam dam. This has raised hopes of Nagarjuna Sagar dam filling up this year.As Tungabhadra river witnessed biggest flood in the past 10 years, officials of Tungabhadra dam released about 1.84 cusecs of water by lifting 33 gates. The flood water, at one stage crossed more than 2 lakh cusecs, but slightly reduced to 1.84 lakh cusecs by Friday evening.Apart from Tungabhadra, about 1.7 lakh cusecs of water from Jurala dam across the Krishna river, taking the figures at Srisailam project to 3.2 lakh cusecs. The Kalwakurti lift scheme is pumping about 1,600 cusecs.Veerraju said that the dam will reach FRL by Saturday evening at current rate of inflow..
