GUNTUR: A woman gave birth to a girl in a train on Wednesday night with the help of Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel as well as on-duty medical staff at Guntur station.22-year-old Shaik Shabi along with her mother took Kakinada express train to go to Government General Hospital at Guntur for a medical check up when she developed labour pains.On getting onformation, Guntur Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) V G Bhooma alerted the assistant medical officer Dr M Prasad at Donakonda and station officials enroute to extend the required medical assistance to the woman, who delivered the baby girl at Cumbumstation at 10.30 PM.A medical team from railway department rushed to the train at Markapuram railway station and provided medical support in the running train as the baby was found suffering from oxygen deficiency.DRM Bhooma, who kept tracking the health condition of the mother and child, advised Dr Prasad to shift them to the nearest children’s hospital in an ambulance following which the mother and child were rushed to the government hospital in Vinukonda..
