Andhra Pradesh hikes annual sop to farmers by Rs 5,000

VIJAYAWADA: Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu announced an increase of Rs 5,000 in the financial assistance for farmers under the state's Annadata Sukhibhava scheme, which will raise the amount the farmers receive per annum to Rs 9,000 from Rs 4,000.This is apart from the Rs 6,000 assistance announced by the Union government for farmers holding less than 5 acres of land. The total financial assistance to farmers has now reached to Rs 15,000 for every farmer in the state.The decision came after a Telugu Desam Party politburo meeting in Vijaywada on Saturday.Majority of the politburo members opined that the decision to give Rs 4,000 along with the Centre's Rs 6,000 did not go down well with farmers..
