Vizianagaram govt hospital set to be upgraded to medical college

According to state directorate of medical education, the available infrastructure is sufficient to start the medical college and teaching hospital. The total cost of the Parvathipuram hospital upgradation project, health department sources said, would be around Rs 14 crore. The hospital also has supportive services like blood bank, a diagnostic lab and mortuary.About 22 acres of land is available with the district hospital, of which around 12 acres are vacant. Dr Subba Rao, director of medical education, had earlier submitted a detailed proposal for the setting up of the college with detailed estimates duly certified by the AP Medical Services and Infrastructure Development Corporation (APMSIDC).Also, the existing infrastructure, bed strength and clinical material meet the Medical Council of India (MCI) guidelines for starting a medical college.
