Hyderabad: The Krishnapatnam-Venkatachalam railway line that was extended up to Obulavaripalli station on the Chennai-Mumbai route, is all set to be open for passenger train services soon. “We are expecting a significant growth in the freight traffic after the upcoming railway line is completed. It is being executed through special purpose vehicle (SPV) Krishnapatnam Railway Company Limited (KRCL), which consists of Rail Vikas Nigam Limited, Krishnapatnam Port, Government of Andhra Pradesh, Sagar Mala Development Corporation, NMDC and Brahmani Steels. Besides, tunnel works are also progressing on a seven km stretch between Cherlopalli and Vellikallu. This will also pave the way for a socio-economic growth in the hinterland areas..
