APTA makes longest bamboo chicken

Bamboo chicken is a tribal dish of Andhra Pradesh cooked in a raw bamboo shoot.The natural method of cooking with open fire is healthy and gives bamboo aroma, retaining the nutritive values. Bamboo chicken can be found in Araku Valley, Visakhapatnam and Maredumilli in East Godavari District of Andhra Pradesh. Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Tourism Authority (APTA) has broken the India Book of Records for making the longest ‘bamboo chicken’ at Haritha Berm Park Resort in Vijayawada on Monday.Expert chefs from Fairfield Marriott were invited from Vishakhapatnam for preparing the dish.According to APTA officials, the initiative was taken to promote the Andhra cuisine at national and international levels. Chief marketing officer Srinivas Rao and executive director Kumar of APTA were present during the event. For the event, India Book of Records, the chefs cooked it by stuffing 8 kg chicken along with other ingredients in a 15-feet long bamboo shoot.Previously, the record stood at 8 ft in the India Book of Records with the dish being prepared by a few individual chiefs from the Godavari region..
