The state has bagged a big-ticket infrastructure project as the Centre has given the green signal for development of a greenfield expressway between Bengaluru-Vijayawada via Pulivendula, which is the home town of chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
The Centre has approved the greenfield expressway between Bengaluru and Vijayawada and that the detailed project report (DPR) for the same is being prepared, according to BJP MP GVL Narasimha Rao.
It will involve highway development of 370 kms.
The Centre has spent over Rs 25,500 crore in AP on highways development alone.

The proposed greenfield expressway is expected to reduce travel time by over three hours as about 65% will be a four-lane highway.
The remaining 110 km will be covered by connecting the new expressway with the existing national highways.
This move will not only reduce the travel time but also save huge costs on the exchequer.
The Anantapur-Amaravati expressway has been cancelled after the YSRC government “backed out” from bearing the cost of land acquisition.
