Vijayawada division of BDU has explained about the various schemes and concessions available for transportation of goods through Rail.

They have introduced the customers through Kisan Rail under `Operation Greens - Top to Total.

 50 percent tariff concession being given to customers for transportation of agricultural products from South Central Railway (SCR) Vijayawada Division From 21st August, Kisan Rail trains started carrying 2,110 tonnes of onion in normal coaches and parcel Kisan Rail rakes from Tadepalligudem to Howrah, Changsari, Malda Town and Jorhat, giving the division to 93 Earned Rs.

This is a win-win situation for both the customers and the Railways.

Accordingly, 50 per cent tariff concession/subsidy was also given to Kisan Rail from Tadepalligudem for transportation of onions (Rs 45 lakhs) under this scheme.

 It is expected that around 30 rakes of Kisan Rail services will be loaded in the coming months, which will generate revenue of 2.5 to 3 crore rupees for the Railways.

These efforts have yielded positive results, and farmers, traders, cargo operators and bulk transporters have shown special interest in transporting onions to the northeastern parts of the country duly utilizing the 50 per cent tariff concession in and around the Tadepalligudem area.
