Lawyers boycott courts over amendment bill

VIJAYAWADA: Members of the Bezawada Bar Association (BBA) boycott courts in protest against the Advocates' (Amendment) Bill 2017 on Friday. They raised several questions against the proposed bill. He also opposed the proposal for interference of retired judges in the internal matters of the bar council.Murthy warned that the association will intensify the agitation if the government goes ahead with the bill. He objected to the idea of including judges and people from other fields in the disciplinary committees. They took out a rally in the city and submitted a memorandum to law minister Kollu Ravindra urging him to send it to Prime Minister Narendra Modi , Union law minister Ravi Shankar Prasad and home minister Rajnath Singh.Somu Krishna Murthy, president of the association, said that the Bar Council of India will lose its autonomy under the proposed bill..
