The department should pay their salaries directly and the system of contract, outsourcing and ‘piece-rate’ payment of wages should be abolished. They demanded implementation of the ‘equal pay for equal work’ as per the directions of the Supreme Court and payment of a minimum of ?8,000 a month till the implementation of the Apex court orders. Speakers at the meeting called for absorption of all contract workers..
