Startups feast on chance to push network

VISAKHAPATNAM: While some established companies have turned up to attend the ongoing Vizag Fintech Festival (VFF), organised by the Andhra Pradesh government, it was the start-ups in the fintech sector who were getting a chance to network and ramp up their companies, said J A Chowdary, advisor (IT) and special chief secretary to the AP government said here on Tuesday.In an interaction with TOI, Chowdary said the VFF had emerged as a platform to network with their peers in the sector. “The $ 1 million challenge that we are running for 40 startups in the fintech sector has got wide response from countries around the world,” Chowdary said.According to him, the government had organised the VFF with the objective of helping startups to find potential technology partners and investors during the fourday event.“The million-dollar challenge helped us in raising the profile of the Vizag Fintech Festival among startups and established companies in the key cities of New York, London and Hong Kong which are home to innovative fintech startups. We shortlisted the 40 companies from among those who had participated in initial rounds,” he said.The winner and runnerup in six categories will be announced on Thursday.Sourabh Sharma, head of business at Neoeyed, a startup that has developed an artificial intelligence app that claims to monitor 100 behavioural factors to detect the takeover of accounts, said that the VFF had provided the opportunity for his company to showcase its offering.Sharma claimed that the application had been deployed in a couple of banks, integrating into the core banking solution of the banks to provide an extra layer of security to the bank’s customers..
