Visakhapatnam: The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation ( GVMC ) will provide individual underground drainage connections to around 7,000 households under the Venkatapuram and Viman Nagar pumping stations’ command area.The state government has recently accorded its approval for the project, which will improve the underground drainage ( UGD ) cover of the city. The project in its entirety aims to lay sewers spanning 710 kilometres and providing 85,000 UGD connections in these three suburbs. According to GVMC officials, the project is estimated to cost around Rs 10 crore.The funds needed for the project will be drawn from the general funds of the corporation.
