The installation of 5-star rated energy efficient appliances is being done through the Andhra Pradesh Power discoms and the Andhra Pradesh State Energy Efficiency Development Corporation ( APSEEDCO ).He said the state has been on the forefront in implementing energy efficiency related program like LED street lighting. Along with tube lights, 5-star rated fans and LED bulbs are also being given.Naidu said Andhra Pradesh has created history by inaugurating four lakh houses intended for the poor. He said NTR Nagars are built on the lines of gated communities.Naidu said implementing energy efficiency measures for the poor was the first time in India. Even the World Bank ranked the State no 1 in Energy Efficiency Preparedness Index, he said.Principal secretary for municipal administration and urban development Karikal Valaven said out of the 5 lakh houses under NTR Nagar scheme in 101 urban local bodies, tenders were finalized for 4,60,492 houses and 3.38 lakh houses have been grounded.Around 1.20 lakh houses were completed. He said the government was providing Rs 13,035 crore as subsidy, physical and social infrastructure and land acquisition apart from providing free land..
