APEPDCL to bear Rs 275cr additional burden annually

It will now have to provide an additional 1.3 lakh units of electricity, said a senior APEPDCL official.The discom purchases one unit of electricity for Rs 4.45 from the power generation companies and supplies it to farmers for free. Visakhapatnam: Andhra Pradesh Eastern Power Distribution Company Limited ( APEPDCL ) has estimated that it will have to bear an additional burden of nearly Rs 27.53 crore to provide nine hours of free power supply to all 28,056 eligible farmers in Visakhapatnam district, according to discom officials.As per estimates, 5.8 lakh units of electricity is required daily to maintain the nine-hour power supply to all farmers in 37 mandals..
