Summary:

Visakhapatnam: Kishore Chandra Deo of the TDP and YSRC candidate G Madhavi filed their nominations in the presence of DK Balaji, PO ITDA, and returning officer at the Paderu ITDA office here on Friday. While the TDP candidate Kishore Chandra Deo, filed his nomination papers at 11:10 am, rookie candidate Madhavi, who is contesting for the first time, did so at 12:45 pm.The two candidates paint a contrasting picture. The YSRC candidate Madhavi is fighting an election for the first time. Both Kishore Chandra Deo and G Madhavi belong to one of the largest tribal communities in the constituency, the Konda Doras. The fight for the Lok sabha seat is once again between the YSRC and TDP as it was in 2014. Although she hails from a political family, (her father Demudu, former Chintapalli MLA was a senior CPI leader) she has little experience in electoral politics. On the other hand, Kishore Chandra Deo has been a six-time parliamentarian, five times from the Parvathipuram constituency (known as the Araku constituency from 2009) and a Union Minister. However, the erstwhile congressman is contesting on a TDP candidate for the first time. The TDP cadre took out a rally in Araku after Deo filed his nomination papers. The Araku constituency is the second largest constituency in the country in terms of extent (over 450 kms from Palakonda to Rampachodavaram) and has a population close to 20 lakh. It is a predominantly rural area with a large chunk covering much of the tribal agency area in north-coastal AP, spread over four districts. The total number of voters from the parliamentary constituency number close to 14 lakhs, with 57% of them being STs..
