HC wants Visakhapatnam collector to act against 'unruly' tourists

HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad High Court on Thursday asked the Visakhapatnam district collector to inform it by Monday the steps being taken to prevent unruly picnickers and tourists from the hill top of Dallapalli village in Paderu mandal, which has become a nuisance for locals. Her counsel Jakkula Sridhar questioned the contents of GO Ms No 25 issued by the state laying eligibility criterion for getting selected as Physical Education Teachers. She was aggrieved with the change of rules that have suddenly rendered several aspirants ineligible. It also sought details of the proposed tourist project being set up there.Justice SV Bhatt was hearing a writ petition filed by Vantala Laxmaiah and 11 other tribals belonging to Dallapalli village seeking a direction to the authorities, particularly the tourism department, not to go ahead with the proposed tourism project in their village without taking the consent of the gram sabha. The petitioners complained they were forcibly evicted from their land on the hill top, around 7.5 acres of which was later fenced by the authorities.Most of the petitioners belong to the Khond community, which is a notified Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group predominantly settled in the Paderu mandal..
