A look at Captain Mithali Raj`s inspirational journey

Mithali Raj  is one of the renowned Indian sports women in the world. In 1999, Indian cricket had been blessed by the arrival of not only Virender Sehwag but Women’s team also got Mithali Raj. She has made the country on numerous occasions and is an inspiration for young aspiring sports persons. But not many would know that before making a sensational debut, Mithali had been aspiring to display her footwork in Indian Classical dancing.

Mithali Raj was born in Jodhpur  on 3rd December 1982

Her father started taking her to St John's coaching camp in Secunderabad when she was 10

She practiced classical dance for 8 years but quit  to pursue her cricket career

 Mithali made her debut against Ireland in 1999 and rose to fame the very same day

She became the youngest ever ODI centurion in her debut match

She is also a recipient of the Arjuna award for the year 2003

 She had been captain of the team that reached 2005 World Cup final

At the 2013 Women's World Cup, Mithali Raj starred as the No.1 Cricketer in the ODI chart among women

Recently, Mithali became the first player to cross 6000 runs in the history of Women’s ODI
