Arsenal legend Wright happy to see Germany bounced out

   
Arsenal legend Ian Wright admits he's happy to see Germany dumped out of the World Cup. It is the first time they have not made the knockout stages of the World Cup since 1938. “First thing I thought was potential quarter-finalists we don't have to worry about when we're totally honest," he said on ITV. “In respect of Germany and what they do, then yeah it is surprising to see Germany go out like they have. “They always seem to find a way to get it done. “Coming into the tournament with one win in six or something, poor form, you still feel Germany are going to get it done. “It is surprising but for some reason I can't seem to shed a tear for them. “Well you have to (enjoy it). “It is surprising to see a Germany side go out like they have."

    England and Belgium squared off in a tie that was meant to decide the winner of Group G given both sides were already through to the Round of 16. The game's early stages was somewhat boring, but England did well to keep hold of the ball and apply pressure thus reducing Belgium's opportunities to launch attacks, but the Red Devils also did quite well to soak up the pressure and prevent England from finding the back of the net. The second-half was more open as Adnan Januzaj curled the ball into the back of the in the 51st minute which evidently served as a wakeup call for England.     England coach Gareth Southgate has defended resting Tottenham striker Harry Kane for their World Cup defeat to Belgium. Southgate rung the changes for England's final Group G match safe in the knowledge his side were already through to the round of 16.
