Don’t we all go through a feeling, where we try to explain to people what we are going through, but couldn`t find the right words? For not everything is as simple as it may seem, not as vocal as we want and not as explainable as it should have been. But literature is where one can find solace for it has a solution to everything unnamable. Here are 10 words for those inexpressible feelings we have been looking for-

1. Heartworm

A relationship or friendship that you can`t get out of your head, you thought had faded long ago. Somehow we can’t get over few people, relationships and places like a dumped flicker whose blazing ashes still have the power to ignite a forest fire.

2. Monachopsis

The subtle but persistent feeling of being out of place. Doesn’t this happen to most of us when we move to new places or hit party we have been conscious about? Well, most people do and here’s the perfect word to describe it.

3. Vellichor

The strange feeling when you enter a bookshop filled with thousands of old books you`ll never have time to read. Each of which is itself sheltered in its own era, bounded, dated and papered over like an old room, the author deserted years ago, a hidden room beset with thoughts left just as they were on the day they were captured. Bibliophiles, sound familiar?

4. Kenopsia

This does happen to people when they go back to a place after a long time. Despondent ambience of a place that usually bustled with people but now it is abandoned and quiet.* Goosebumps*

5. Mauerbauertraurigkeit

The inexplicable urge to push people away, even close friends who you really like. There comes a point when we want to stay away from people, even those close to us, this word is for that strange unhappy feeling we go through.

A hypothetical conversation that you compulsively play out in your head. All the time after an argument or sometimes before the argument too, we make up scenarios to win them. Feeling relatable, isn’t it?

7. Anemoia

Nostalgia for a time you`ve never known. There’s Deja Vu when it feels like a scene has reminded itself, but this is more gripping.

8. Anecdoche

A conversation in which everyone is talking, but nobody is listening. Those pointless brainstorming sessions which have actually given us some headaches it was because of this.

9. Exulansis

The tendency to give up trying to talk about an experience because people are unable to relate to it. Often we have been trying to explain to people what we feel, but ultimately we don’t find the right words ending up without any explanation.

10. Liberosis

The desire to care less about things. We all wish we could stop things midway without caring about them, not thinking about others and be an independent bird ready to fly.
