5 Tips to Improve Sleep Quality

.

You just moved into your new home with the help of www.blacktiemoving.com, but you can’t seem to be getting the quality sleep you used to at your old place. While we’re sure that your sleep will get better as you adjust to your new home, we’re here to help in the meantime by offering a list of 5 tips to improve sleep quality.

Let’s jump right into it!

Put the Phone Away

While you may be tempted to scroll Instagram or TikTok right before, it’s probably not the best idea if you’re looking to improve your sleep quality. Research continues to show that blue light, emitted from our electronic devices, negatively impacts our ability to fall asleep and enter into a deep sleep (called the REM sleep cycle). Try and put your phone away for at least one hour before hitting the hay!

Practice Mindfulness

Mindfulness is a great sleep aid, and it’s incredibly easy to practice right from the comfort of your bed. Mindfulness is a technique that helps you to get in touch with the moment in front of you. Not only has it been shown to help decrease symptoms of anxiety and depression, but it’s also a great way to put you at ease for a quality night of shuteye.

Avoid Alcohol Right Before Bed

If you’ve made it a habit of pouring yourself a glass of Pinot Noir right before bed, it might be something you want to reconsider. While you might think that alcohol will help to make you feel calm and ready for bed, it’s been shown to have a negative impact on our sleep quality. Instead of reaching for a glass of wine before bed, try and stick with drinks that ensure a quality night of sleep like lemon water or decaffeinated green tea.

Create a Cozy Atmosphere

Your environment is incredibly important when it comes to getting quality sleep each night. That’s why it’s no surprise that you want to make sure that you create a cozy atmosphere in the bedroom if you’re looking to improve your quality of sleep. Soft lighting, cooler temperatures, and cozy bedding are all musts when it comes to creating the perfect atmosphere for quality rest.

Implement a Regular Sleep Schedule

Quality sleep requires that you have a somewhat regular bedtime schedule. If you’re used to staying up until the wee hours of the morning and sleeping in until noon, we hate to break it to you, but this isn’t helping you to get the quality sleep your mind and body need to thrive. While the best times for sleep vary from person to person, you’ll want to try and get to bed somewhere between 9:30 P.M. and Midnight and wake up between 5:30 A.M. and 8 A.M. It’s important to ensure you’re getting in between 7-8 hours of uninterrupted sleep each night.
